Pinhole Still Life [E]

I'm really satisfied with my photo. It was made on a day with a light reading of 11. That meant that I had to keep the shutter open on my handmade pinhole camera for 120 seconds.

I think that it is amazing that you can create a picture by using a cardboard box and tin. I felt so proud of myself for completing this project because it is such an unfathomable process and concept. I love to be able to actually develop my own photos instead of watching it load on the computer.

I find it hard to believe that I this photograph was made in a camera made out of scrap materials. This was my first attempt.

This photograph is a contact print from a 4x4 inch paper negative made in my handmade pinhole camera. The camera was made from an 11x18 inch piece of scrap cardboard. The lens was made by punching a tiny hole in a piece of aluminum that I salvaged from a soda can.

Our instructor had an old ceramic mask that we used as a subject for this assignment. The image is a contact print from a 4x4 inch paper negative made in my handmade pinhole camera.
